But maybe it's only in the cities where the games have been played and the other cities are not.
Well, I suppose the fact their own team is doing well has to be having an effect.
Right, and their timings are probably easier.
But for the majority of countries in the world, it's a massive deal.
And...
it does take away from some of the things that do matter in the world, much more than football, of course, and a lot of the doom and gloom and frustration about them.
And, you know, at the beginning of the World Cup, I have to say, I was very negative in my head about the whole thing, about the whole idea that...
that the eye will be off the ball on what's going on in the terrible things that are going on in Israel and Lebanon and several other countries in the world and that it becomes just about football and that everyone actually it's great the football is great the matches are great it's all about Messi and Mbappe and Haaland and Ronaldo and all that stuff
But it is good for the soul as well for times to be able to look at football and look at the joy it brings to so many people.
And go back to what I was saying about the people who are at the games.
A lot of the people who are at the games, I think they've probably paid an awful lot to get there, whether it's the travelling or whether it's the cost of tickets or a combination of all the factors.
And they look like they're going to make a party over it, irrespective of how the team are doing the matches.
You look at Scotland in particular and how they've been, Saudi Arabia haven't been great.
The Iranians, less so, they've been very mixed.
I think they're supporters because they're looking at an opportunity to protest against their own regime there.
And they see the team as representing the regime rather than representing the country.
And that's a problem.
big problem, I think, for the Iranian public.
But in general, the majority of the countries are supporting their team with such fervour and with such fun and with such style.
