That was a fabulous day, the coming out of the Irish.
The expectation was that Italy would have all the tickets, that the Italian Mafia would control the tickets and that the stadium would be full of blue and white and red and there might be a thousand Irish people dotting the stadium.

Tommy Coyne playing up front on his own and banging the ball up to him and saying, now Tommy, could you catch that ball, hold it up on your chest and wait for about 20 seconds till the other lads come back up around the box and are struggling in the heat.
You know, tactically, I thought...
It wasn't great.
But also the fact that there was a kind of an ignorance of sports science and a kind of a dismissiveness about that that could be helpful.
