Appearances
Hi there, welcome to the next play with me, Brian O'Driscoll, where I'm speaking to ex-athletes about their transition from their playing days into their new walk of life.
Today's guest is Nal Quinn, the renowned Republic of Ireland, Arsenal, Man City and Sunderland footballer who talked us through his playing days and then his transition into being executive chairman of Sunderland Football Club, amongst other things.
Hope you enjoy.
No, thanks so much for for joining us.
Um I'm always really interested in people that have had success in the first part of their life, in their initial career, and in your case it's you know, over twenty years ago.
So how do you
introduce yourself to people these days as to who you are or what you've done.
Um do you do you look back um on your football career with enormous fondness um or how does it sit with you?
Did you did you get everything out of it that you thought you might?
Probably not.
There's actually so much to unpack in that.
Like let me go through on a few things.
Harry Wilkinson's looking back now.
Yeah, so so is that is that still appropriate behaviour for s for for a f for a football manager to behave?
And and sorry, does that does that still happen nowadays?
you you were you seventeen?
Seventeen.
Just turned s on my seventeen.
Okay, so go across to London, um
you know huge opportunity but y I think so you look at the kids now even after your time as well going younger, thirteen, fourteen, into digs.
