I'm not as pessimistic as some.
There is certainly a lot of really positive things that can come out of AI, things we can do in medicine and healthcare, which are very, very powerful.
But those social implications, I think, do keep me awake at night.
And they should keep all of us awake at night a little bit because...
The analogy I use is that, you know, you talk about Bicentennial Man.
What about WALL-E?
Where the humans are just interstellar blobs on a space cruiser.
Robots just take care of us and throw money at us and we shop for stuff we don't need and we're all just blobs while our planet is just a mess.
Yeah.
Is that really our future?
Is that how we're going to roll?
I hope not.
I don't think we will.
But I do worry that this is – it's an environment that is ripe for disruption.
Mm-hmm.
ripe for change.
There's going to be clear winners and clear losers.
But in order to maintain social stability, the clear losers are going to have to be looked after.
Retraining, it means more spending on welfare, more spending on training, education.
That, to me, is the way it's going to pan out.
