So bottom line, budget deficits do matter, but they do not matter as much as perhaps some of the headlines would suggest.
That's the way I tend to think about it.
Yeah, OK.
Yeah, it's a good question.
We tend to look at all the major share markets of the world and major bond markets of the world, and we conduct pretty deep longer-term analysis of these markets where we look at, okay, if I look at equity markets in the United States or Japan,
On average, what is the return on equity going to be for these companies?
How profitable are these companies going to be?
How fast can they grow their profitability, their profits?
And that means, well, how fast can the economy grow?
And that comes down to things like demographics.
How fast is your working age population going to grow?
But especially now, how fast is productivity going to grow?
That's a really, really tough one to measure at this point, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence.
But we feed all that through into models and come up with what is a fair price to pay for, say, US equities or Australian equities or Japanese equities.
If the current price is below that, it's a buying opportunity.
If it's above that, we prefer to lighten up a little bit.
And we rebalance that periodically.
We're not trying to, if there's a major shift in markets, we'll take advantage of it.
But we can go for days to weeks and not trade at all.
If markets are just doing and not sort of moving terribly much either direction, we're not going to take significant shifts.
