Every day we're seeing this happen.
But the Kimmel story broke through unlike most of those controversies.

I think the big surprise is maybe it's not shouldn't be surprising.
The big statement here is that there is an interest in the American public, that people are paying attention.
These stories can break through.
Maybe the point, Dan, is Americans are not numb to it all yet.
We've been worried for years about AI deep fakes, that computer-generated images are going to trick people into believing something that's totally false. Cheap fakes are a little bit simpler. They're cheap. They're just distorted, out-of-context videos chopped up in certain ways. The Biden administration, the Biden campaign is so worried about right now.
But make no mistake, they are worried about this. This is a real problem. This is not some made-up fiction. The videos are oftentimes made up, but the problem is real.
Biden being back on the public stage reminds people of what went wrong, and it doesn't negate what is in this explosive book. When you launch a book the way Tapper and Thompson are doing next week, you come out with a first excerpt. So that first excerpt up on the New Yorker website right now, also available on CNN.com, it is very damning about what went wrong in 2023 and 2024.

And yet, in every budget, the money is still there because there are enough Republican lawmakers who don't want to face constituents back home, who are angry about missing Big Bird, who are angry about missing the PBS NewsHour, who are angry about missing NOVA.
The public media funding fight is maybe one of the least dramatic examples of what is a really dramatic attempt to stifle the free press.
In his second term, he's trying to translate those words into actions. He is not just bullying the press, but in some cases taking actions against the press. And we may just be at the beginning stages of those actions.
