As you can imagine, there's a lot of orange squares this month.
Yeah, so we scroll down a bit and you'll see that we've broken out a bunch of categories that make up products that Americans will typically buy.
If you're a vegetarian or you just have a lot of vegetables in your diet, let's say you can see that we have a box for lettuce.
And if you click into lettuce, you'll see the price moves for every month for the past year.
And so this gives you a chance to see what kind of trends might be affecting the things that you're currently buying.
You know, the CPI is a single number, but looking at a single number isn't going to give you the whole story about what things cost this month when things have been moving every month for the past year.
And so this gives you a sense of knowing, have prices returned to what they were?
Have they been up?
Have they been down?
And you're able to better figure out your budget knowing that.
Yeah, well, that's what's really exciting about this is this tool updates live every month.
So the government, the Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes new inflation numbers once a month.
This tool will update along with those numbers.
When the new numbers are out, the numbers on this page change.
So it's a good place to come back to to compare where things have been and where are they now, because we have all these different ways to look back
over the past year at what numbers have been.
This month's numbers will become last month's numbers when the new numbers come out.
And at the bottom, what we've built is a way for you to build something like your own mini CPI.
