I think it's often the case that early on into a government, you know, you get, it's tough in the polls.

I think we're starting to see big signs of improvement in terms of our position.

But there's a lot to do.

We've got a big, you know, we've got a big fight on our hands and a lot rests on defeating the likes of Farage and reform and his poisonous politics.

And that is a big responsibility that, you know, going into the years ahead with a new prime minister that we need to take on.

Well, the articulation of how you can use kind of the power of government, whether that's regional government or national government, to harness the best of the private sector working together.

I think that would be... It's quite new labour, isn't it?

I think it shows what can be achieved as well with a clear sense of purpose and direction, the ability to use the power of government, whether that's at a regional level or a national level, to bring in investment and to deliver change, but also to do only the things that government can do.

So, for example, you know, it is always better if public transport is

actually in the hands of people that care about it, not just left to private operators to, as we still have in the North East, left to private operators to do as they want.

And when that happens, people are let down.

So I think that sense of the country moving in the right direction and the sense of hope and optimism that people want will be there in abundance.

The prime minister, the new prime minister, Andy Burnham, will want to put his mark on a new government, will seek to push things in a different direction in certain ways.

And I'm sure he'll be setting that out very soon.
