It's far from done.
We've had a big consultation and we'll set out next steps.
But there were lots of people who said to me, it's just too difficult.
Don't bother.
Don't try.
especially after what happened around welfare reform.
It's just too hard.
And actually, I think it shows what can be done if you try and take people with you, you explain what you're trying to do and you make sure that people are involved in the design of that, no matter how difficult the policy.
And it is really tricky because this is obviously children who've
been through awful experiences, parents who were really bruised by a system that has failed them.
But I think we are taking people with us, building confidence, but there's an awful lot more to do on that front.
I think there is a disconnect, I think, in terms of Kia's public persona and who he is as an individual.
And I don't quite know why that is.
But I think there is a disconnect because the Kia Starmer I know is someone who is just a very straightforward, down-to-earth person who's in politics for the right reasons.
He genuinely is.
I mean, I think most politicians are.
But I think Kia really feels that he felt a real sense of profound responsibility for
and wanted to do the right thing for the country.
And ultimately, that was why he took the decision to resign, because he felt that was right for the party and right for the country.
And I think that's the measure of him as a man.
