Because I think what's so interesting about um Dolly Parton and
Has become apparent like today with this news is that no one didn't like Dolly.
Isn't that such an interesting thing?

I think people, um, you know, what what resonated and what cut through but uh because she it was the through line through everything she did was her heart and that's what carried her through her music, it was her look, it was her persona, it was her in you know, candid nature in interviews and throughout a long, long, long career where, you know, she would have experienced ups and downs and you know
the ups and downs of career, the ups and downs of life along the way.
But through it all, she remained unmistakably Dolly
Oh, look, for me as a as someone who's always been really interested in um
particularly the path of female artists in music.
It's the it's the what she achieved as a female artist and how she was able to pave the way for all of the women coming up through now.
You know, she was um very aware from the start of of her ability as a songwriter when it wasn't really very popular then for artists to do their own songwriting.
Uh, they were often just g given music, they perform it, it was like that's how it went.
But f she was like a real believer in her ability there and she fought for it.
She also, you know, went head to head with the colonel when it came to Elvis Presley taking on

And when he wanted um when when Elvis wanted to sing I Will Always Love You, which is a Dolly Parton song, she put her foot down and said no because she didn't want to give up the rights and the money to that, which is how it was done in those days.
She also, you know, she built a legacy in a way that was, you know, there was theme parks, there were cake mixes, there's uh d Dollywood, you know, like
She diversified her portfolio and branded herself in a way that kind of hadn't really been seen before, but was genius.
Yeah.
But everything was stamped with her.
