I think this whole country is in shock, Brad.
This is one of the worst disasters they've seen in recent history.
I was just at a hospital a little earlier that was treating uh some of the victims of this deadly disaster.
You know, the Nepalese are used to s you know, earthquakes, natural disasters, but this really was like no other in terms of the scale and also as you mentioned, you know, the pictures coming through that catastrophic wall of water just sweeping away entire villages, bridges, roads.
and and that's what's made also the recovery effort uh underway throughout the night, by the way.
All the more complicated and desperate.

We do know there are dozens of Americans among the missing and certainly the rescue operation underway to find them too.
It's a huge task and there is an urgent recovery underway and it's complicated by mountains of of mud and debris.
Communication lines are down, roads are blocked, and the search for, as I say, dozens of Americans but also hundreds of other of other foreigners, trekkers, is underway.
We know that the US is sending a disaster response advisor plus half a million dollars in aid, but on the ground, Brad, this is an all out mobilization effort.
We're talking more than uh nine thousand army, police, armed personnel.
Using bulldozers to dig people out of their homes, uh sniffer dogs to search the debris, helicopters are ferrying in supplies and pulling out survivors because so many roads and bridges have simply been washed away.
We know that rescuers have been able to successfully pull people out alive so far, and certainly many of the family members who are watching, who are waiting for a good response for and good outcome to this, uh they will be watching anxiously and hoping for a similar result.
