Right now in the overnight hours, calmer winds coming in from the southwest.
That's actually probably the best wind flow you can have because although there's not a lot of moisture, that is the direction where you could get a little more moisture in the atmosphere.

And so that very dry air is not going to be helpful to the fire fight.
That does buffer Reno from the smoke and the air quality concern, but unfortunately wind gusts like that will be a battle for the firefighters.
Big ridge of high pressure just driving the heat, so that's part of the problem for Nevada.
Of course, is the deep, intense heat that we've had for the entire summer drying out the fuels.

We're going to start to see some large impacts starting on Friday for the southern plains.
That's where we have the potential for not only ice, but also a lot of snow.
We're looking at the potential here for over a foot and a half of snow, mainly north of Interstate 40 and up the I-35 corridor.
