But the younger players, like those guys who have like wives and girlfriends your age, like you can immediately form relationships with them.
They will like you.
They will respect you.
They will trust you.
They will get what you're trying to do.
And that's what I did early on.
I targeted the younger guys in that clubhouse.
And eventually, as my years went on, those younger guys became the leaders.
And then all of a sudden you walk into the clubhouse and you look around and all those guys are your guys.
Right.
And you have a feel of the clubhouse.
And if a guy does yell at you in the clubhouse, you know that somebody else is going to stand up for you.
And that's something I was really fortunate to have a lot of when I was with the Rays in 2008.
Cliff Floyd, the first day I was there, veteran, big leaguer, now an analyst on TV, said, like, recognize, like, I'm a young female in there and said, like, you have any problems with anyone?
You come to me.
You come right to me and we'll handle it.
And I so appreciated that.
And I never had any problems.
And I think it was because Cliff Floyd was the leader in there.
