He told investigators that he remembered something bad happening in an Austin motel bathroom.
He says he heard Ava screaming really bad and peeked into the bathroom.
He says his mother was violently assaulting Ava in a bathtub full of running water.
He says later he heard the water turn off about the same time
Ava stopped screaming.
He told investigators his mother then dressed Ava and put her in a car seat.
The little girl looked like she was sleeping.
Then Gonzalez told him Ava was going to live with a new family, a new mom and dad.
He never saw her again.
Detectives believe Ava may have died at her mother's hand on or around January 2, 2018.
