A lot of kids, influence comes from who they idolize, people that they think are cool.
You know, I wouldn't say our parents are the ones wielding machetes, but them coming from war-torn countries, they don't really adapt to be there for their kids, and they have different types of expectations.
Like, you're, you know, killing people, bringing danger to a society.
Obviously, you don't belong.
But having parents come here, you know, there's no emotional stability or connection with that parent and child.
All the people that they idolize.
I guess a lot of influence comes from music.
You know how much American influence has on kids nowadays.
I think hurting someone's going to be really cool, so why don't I do it?
People don't know.
Especially here in Melbourne.
Because it's so, you know, prominent here in Melbourne, it happens quite frequently.
It's sad to say, yeah, obviously in Adelaide, a lot more people lay back, relax, but coming here looking like the ones that actually commit the crime.
My mom was only 14 when she came here.
