LaGuardia Airport reopened its second runway late Friday afternoon, two days after crews discovered a sinkhole on the runway.
Earlier Friday, officials said the runway would not reopen until Saturday morning, but by Friday afternoon they announced that ground-penetrating radar indicated that the strip was ready to resume operations.
Some outbound flights were more than two hours behind schedule overnight, while inbound flights were experiencing hour-long delays.
That's according to the tracking site FlightAware.
Travelers are still being advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport.
The cause of the sinkhole is under investigation.

The cause of the explosion is unknown, but an investigation is underway.
