Just this year, he just looked...

a little bit off with the non-physical part to the game.

And, you know, whether it was something off ice, whether it was just trying to, you know, weather the storm.

I mean, he was out there with Trent Frederick a lot.

Again, this is not a crack at Trent Frederick or anything like that.

But when you have a young guy trying to feel his way and a guy like Trent Frederick, who was clearly struggling, I think,

probably safe to say in the early in the season with the injuries still um you know it just just looked like he just didn't couldn't quite figure out what he was where he needed to be and you know confidence erodes in young players and i don't care if people can say he's 27 years old you know what he just hasn't played that many nhl games and

Well, and I think what I would add to that is not just the organization, but the head coach, right?

You have, you have a guy who played a long time in this league and,

same position but he understands the game from that perspective and i'm telling you if there's a more intense guy out there i don't know who it is and that might be the thing that you know cracks it for noel philip right is just getting into an environment like that where a he's got a coach who understands what he's going through

in the position and then is willing to be pretty pretty hard on him pretty motivating whatever you want to whatever you want to say yeah pushing him hard and i you know i it'll be an interesting it'll be an interesting experiment because like i said he has all the physical tools to be an nhl center there's without a doubt and for whatever reason that

kind of mental, emotional skill set just wasn't there for chunks of this season, and we can point at lots of reasons for that, but it wasn't there.

But it has been there in the past, and he's now going to go to a team with a coach who's going to demand that.

For sure.

I think he wasn't too old.

29 is fine, right?

He had a great pedigree in the Swedish league.

Always the risk with a Swedish league player who comes with that reputation of maybe not having the fastest boots is that big ice surface over there can hide a lot of flaws.

And when you get over here, you know, it seems counterintuitive that a slow guy can actually excel on a bigger ice surface, but it's certainly the case.

And then you get over here and time and space gets contracted on you much faster.
