It was a feeling of, you know, shallowness, emptiness.
It was so much anticipation surrounding it.
You know, this incredible city with all the history of,
sport and that 1956 history as well.
And we felt like the time was right.

So I left sort of that night and the next few weeks, I guess, Gerard, thinking, well, I don't think I'm going to see an Olympic Games in our country in the foreseeable future.
So it was a feeling, it was pretty devastating to be truthful.
We'd built our hopes up so high and we were really hit for six.
And there was a
sort of a stigma about the fact that Atlanta got them, you know, the Coca-Cola games or whatever you might feel about that.

where certainties he seems to be.
