What is uh your ideal comfort meal?
Like when like life falls apart or you've had a crappy day, what do you make?
Uh and lastly, what is the quality that you admire most in other people?
Okay, because I know lots about you from being like a Toronto who grew up like a Torontonian who grew up in the in kind of the West End.
And I was in my formative, I would say dining out years because I I didn't yet have children.
I had lots of free time.
And my friends were down to like go out and have dinner and drinks and sort of enjoy just sort of being in the city and the hustle and bustle.
And I spent an inordinate amount of time and money at the Black Hoof, a cocktail bar, like
Still love Rum Corn, still love all of these spots.
Um, so I know lots about you, but for everyone listening who kind of like doesn't know your backstory, how did you get started in the restaurant business?
Was it sort of by happenstance, like when you said you you kind of got in through the back door?
What did that look like for you?
Well, and especially in a city like Toronto, where I feel like, you know, there are the neighborhood sprawl has happened so immensely and s and they're it's so expensive here now Isn't that all cities though?
Yeah, places people really want to live, as it turns out, will be filled with rich people eventually.
And so Um But I remember about the Black Hoof, like I remember you had an electric stove.
Like there was like an electric stove there and it was but at the same time, then you know, Anthony Bourdain comes into town and and stops by and has like a bone luge with you.
So it did feel like that kind of like bootstrappy possible thing.
And I also think it was when restaurants hit here and they still
Still lots of places still feel very cool, but it felt like the start, at least for me, of being like, oh, Toronto has like this cool stuff happening.
And a lot of that was really centered around, I feel like, you know, Black Hoof and and everything that sprung out of it.
