And I was like, okay, that's the thing that you do if you're a poor girl.

The one thing you can always find is a pen and a paper and you can write.

So I'm going to write my way out of here.

So I started writing a book when I was 13 and I believed, because I'm a very fast reader.

What was the book called?

I didn't before I started writing it now, but I believed I was a really fast reader.

I could read a book in a day, still can.

And so I believed if I could read a book in a day, I could surely write a book in a day.

And by the end of that first day, it was very apparent that I would not be able to write a whole book in a day.

But I finished it and I called it The Chronicles of Namo, which is an amalgam of Moran.

And it was a very thinly disguised comedic telling of a crazy family who were all home educated in Wolverhampton.

And I started sending it off to publishers and they published it.

And, yeah, found all the publishers and sent it off.

By that point, I'd won another writing competition because I was just entering every competition available.

So I'd entered the Observer's Young Reporter of the Year competition.

And so I entered that and I won it.

And part of the competition was a sort of electronic typewriter competition.

So I typed up, I'd written, handwritten the whole thing and then I typed it up on the electronic typewriter.

So you were supposed to write a serious news report.

It was Reporter of the Year about sort of a local dignitary who'd visited the town or a sporting event.
