This was just a tin.

It didn't even have a toilet.

And it was on a piece of, it was on a car park in the mountains in Wales.

And we would be there from March until October every year.

So that theoretically was our holiday every year, but it was more of a migration.

We would simply live there.

the reason we had that caravan is my father was very convinced that sometime soon the russians would drop the bomb and that we would we would simply have to survive and start civilization from scratch again in a caravan in wales so so there was a fraught edge there was a survival tactic relaxing holiday it wasn't relaxing now it was um so yeah so there'd be eight kids on this on this council estate and my dad would do things drive to like a beautiful there's a beautiful beach called innislus that's owned by the national trust and it's just a huge estuary and it's an amazing place for wading birds and you see whales there and stuff it's absolutely beautiful

But our dad would walk, when the tide went out, we'd walk right to the very edge of the sandbar, at the very edge, the tide goes out about five miles.

We'd stand at this sandbar at the very edge of it and he'd go, you know, there are places in the world where the tide comes back in so quickly that it would outrun a galloping horse.

And if the tide turned here now, you'd all be dead.

You'd all just be dead.

So let's run.

And then we'd all have to practice running back to dry land as quickly as we could.

So it was more of a sort of SAS, are you tough enough vibe, rather than going to Marbella, which I believe other people were probably doing at the time.

Oh, well, most of my girlfriends are nerds.

The news we got to that is I went to Cornwall with National Treasurer Lauren Laverne and my friend Sally Hughes is a journalist and the children's author Nadia Shireen.

And for some reason, the one big thing we did on this holiday in Cornwall was we visited a salt factory.

And we walked around and we tasted different samples of salt.

And the guy who ran it was very passionate about salt.

And he was like, you'll be able to taste the difference between this salt is a sweeter salt.
