And the fact that we saw asset managers moving toward holding this and for years, many of them said, you know, we'll never wind up holding this in our books.
It's a significant step for a bank to then be saying, we are going to enter this market.
Yeah, I guess the first and foremost concern is that things that run up quickly have a tendency to correct.
And so we saw this with Bitcoin in 2017, where it valued massively, and then it crashed off the back of that.
So there's some concern that, like with GameStop, maybe this value isn't wholly sustainable.
With that said, there's more people in Bitcoin market now and there's more adoption.
So maybe that might not be the case with the Reddit trading.
A lot of that was backed by individual investors and maybe there was always going to be kind of a cap to how long that would wind up riding out.
But Bitcoin is extremely volatile and people who are
going to buy it now should be aware of that.
I mean, much like GameStop, it can go up $100 in a day or $1,000 or $2,000, and then it can crash down and lose most of its value within a few more days.
Many institutional investors and many individual investors will do their own research and try and decide, you know, is there a reason for this to go higher?
And I think if you're deciding whether to buy something, that's ultimately what you need to be thinking of.
Don't buy something just because you think that a bunch of other people are jumping on board with this and it's a good trade to make money.
If you're going to enter a trade, you should have an idea of how much something is worth at fair value, how much you think fundamentals, like how many people are now adding it to their own portfolios, how many institutional investors are involved, the size of the market,
the reasons it might have to continue going up outside of just kind of this hive mentality.
And so that's really what is the focus of when we look at these assets and what's driving them.
That's what we keep in mind is, you know, how much of this is really supported by the prospects for this asset.
So Bitcoin has gotten even easier to start investing in if you are an individual investor and you want to start trying.
