He was a slinger for many, many years, a very good pitcher and thrower and slinger.
But I think he's really adopting and adapting into being an actual pitcher of the baseball and realizing that, you know what, now that I have all these other weapons, I don't have to max out my fastball.
I don't have to max out my slider.
I've got plenty of protection with the other pitches that even 96 plays after I've thrown the 78 Monarch changeup or thrown in a knuckle curve.
Uh he's doing so many things to open up so many more areas on the plate as well, using both sides of the plate with different pitches moving in all directions that he's created so many insurance policies for that fastball.
If it's by design, I absolutely love it.
Reminds me a lot of a young Justin Verlander when he was in his prime.
He would start off ninety-three, ninety four and it would go up as the outing goes versus starting off really hot and then losing velocity.
