But that was where we were when we got our dog.
And that was where I began going to the dog park.
And that was where I got the idea to write a novel whose setting was in a dog park.
So Maryland kind of came out of there.
I wanted it to be an affluent suburb in Maryland also because I loved the idea and I learned this when I was living there.
A lot of people who live in the suburbs around D.C.
work in government or they work in the government.
Some of them might work for the military.
Some of them might work.
for the FBI some of them might work for the CIA like you don't people have very interesting jobs there and they don't always talk about them forthright and so when I was living there I was always saying to my wife
do you think that guy's a spy?
You know, any one of these people could be a spy.
I'm like, this one works, is very vague about what government work they do.
I'm like, what do you think they do?
Do you think they're a CIA agent?
And so my wife would laugh at me, but I thought, you know, in terms of having, I put that into Val's head a little bit because I thought it was super interesting just, and setting specific, like if you can have something in your book that's very unique to a certain place, I think that's so lucky and you have to capitalize on that.
So I knew I wanted to put that into the book because I thought it was just like super fun and interesting.
I mean, that story writes itself.
Right.
I mean, that is just you can't you can't make it up any better.
