And when I returned after my second maternity leave, I made the same call.

I'd go back three days.

But I also knew by that point that two kids was going to be it for us: the baby making machine.

Was over.

I've got two kids earthside.

I've been pregnant four times.

So I was I knew that I was done.

And in some ways, I also really wanted to hold on to that time.

Because also what we hear of, you know, when they're young, you only they only last for so long.

And three days felt intentional.

It felt like I was protecting our time together.

And you know what?

For a while that worked.

But then something started to happen.

I'd be on a non-work day, a day where I wasn't being paid, and a meeting might come up, or I'd be answering an email that I needed to get back to ideally on that day.

And slowly I was needing more than three days to actually do my work.

And I also started noticing that my workload

Wasn't actually a three-day workload anymore.

I'd been back about six months after my second maternity leave, and I took on extra responsibility at an Asia-Pacific role, which I look back now, was a hell of a lot of work.

I was recognized for it, but clearly it wasn't for three days.
