And I thought, wow, what a great idea.
I need that book now from Amazon drone delivery.
But then, thankfully, I had a second thought, which was, whoa, is it really come to this?
Are you really
in such a hurry you're prepared to fob off your little boy with a sound bite at the end of the day.
And that was just, that was hitting rock bottom.
It was like an out of body experience.
I could see myself in sharp relief.
And what I saw there was just, it was just ugly and unedifying.
And I thought,
I'm not actually living, I'm just rushing.
And that was when I began to think, perhaps there's a different way of living in the modern world that doesn't involve turning every second of the day into a race against the clock.
Well, I think it starts as a feel-good idea, but there's all kinds of research to back it up.
I mean, we know that if people are racing, running around like headless chickens, constantly distracted, overstressed, over hurried, that we burn out, right?
Our bodies can't take it.
We're exhausted.
People aren't sleeping as much anymore from teenagers up because we're just so over-hyped, right?
We're just sort of pumped up on adrenaline and this takes a toll on our mental and physical health.
It also gets in the way all of this speed, busyness and distraction gets in the way of our relationships.
We can't listen anymore to other people.
