And Keir Starmer sort of managed to get himself out of that pickle by sacking, you know, his top advisors.
But I mean, that just seems like a lot of book passing.
And then when Labour got absolutely hammered, losing loads and loads of seats in the recent local elections, really like losing ground to reform at such a pivotal time.
And I suppose the UK is like,
you know, the political landscape is so volatile in the UK right now.
And it just didn't seem Starmer was capable of meeting that moment at all.
So, you know, if nothing else, what Labour will hope for from Andy Burnham is just like a kind of a stronger leader who's able to, you know, whatever it is that Labour are doing, can put like a more positive, energetic spin on it and relate to people a little bit more.
Yeah, honestly, Keir Starmer, I just think, has been such a wet blanket.
Totally.
Most of what he has done or like the most high profile things that he had done, like certainly what comes to mind for me is like criminalizing, criminalizing Palestine action and prescribing them as a terrorist organization, obviously massively cracking down on Palestine protests.
There's also been, you know, a real rowing back on labor support for trans people.
He had really, really leaned into this idea of himself as, you know,
deporting a lot of people you know like in a way that I just think is so antithetical to traditional Labour left wing values as for whether Andy Burnham will be any more sort of left wing or Corbyn-esque I don't know I think probably not that much but
You know, it remains to be seen.
And as you say, hard to imagine someone being worse than Kirsten.
Yeah, so there's been a positive development, really, on the pro-choice side of things, which is that Ireland has, well, TDs have voted to remove the three-day waiting period, which, as you say, has been in place since the 8th Amendment was repealed back in 2018.
The significance of the three-day waiting period is that, like, ultimately, when you look at Ireland's abortion laws, they only facilitate abortions within 12 weeks.
And when you're looking at a situation whereby someone might find that they're pregnant, you know, say at the six week mark or the eight week mark, actually three days is quite a massive chunk of time.
Yeah, absolutely.
And particularly when, you know, it sort of almost carries an assumption that by the time, you know, women seek that first consultation, that they haven't already been thinking about it.
