And so there was this kind of bombshell moment last week where Mary Macalese announced that she would be stepping down from this role because she had found that she was meeting huge obstacles on the part of the GAA and that there was actually no real seriousness about that timeline, and that.
Some there's lots of different timelines that have been thrown out there in the days that have followed.
Um, I know it's been suggested that, you know, uh a letter was issued by the GAA in which they said they were aiming for 2031, but that they were still trying to establish a timeline.
And then another spokesperson for the GAA said something like, Oh, not by not until 2034.
So I mean it's the can being kicked down the road hugely.
And uh there's a good analysis.
Piece on the journal by Sinead O'Carroll, who's the editor-in-chief of the journal and also a Sterling Camogi player.
And you know, her analysis is just that there is

You know, when it comes to the GAA, there's too many committees and too many people who don't want to give up power.
Yeah.
Um, you know, obviously for the LGFA and Camogi Association to be integrated, that means more voices for women, more involvement of women, more priorities for those uh you know, more uh voice given to those organizations.
And it seems like those who are already present in the GAA don't want to give up their share of the pie or their sort of
command of the space
So that's what Mary MacAleys felt she was coming up against.
And, you know, her her words, she really didn't hold back.
Um, she said that she was absolutely devastated.
Uh, she said that the GA managed commit GA management committee was less than impressive, and it was very disappointing to her as a long-term supporter of the GAA to meet a body that was so lacking in vision for the future of the GAA.
Um, she said, I hate to say this, but I suspect that there are people who are not in.
Entirely happy about the idea of including women in decision making at the top level of Gaelic sports.
