And while most of them are negative feelings, it seems some of them can be positive too.
But first, what is boredom?

Sandy Mann is a psychologist at the University of Central Lancashire in the UK, and she's the author of the book The Science of Boredom, Why Boredom is Good.
Here's how she defines boredom.
Other definitions point out that there are always things we could do, so boredom might be more about not having things to do that we think are meaningful.
Some also argue that while it is generally a negative feeling, it's also slightly stimulating.
In other words, boredom gives us a sense of unease and a push to go and do something.
And then there's also its connection to how we experience time.

That's Professor Thomas Goetz from the University of Vienna.
He studies how students in Europe experience boredom.
And because of its slippery, muted, subtle nature, he describes boredom as a silent emotion.
And do we have any sense of how often people might feel boredom?
It seems to be a pretty universal but perhaps underrecognized experience.

So you can see why many people do report feeling at least some boredom in their workplace, or even in their relationships, or other aspects of their lives.
