says the agency improperly shared taxpayer information with Homeland Security.

The action centers on a controversial agreement allowing the IRS and DHS to share data to identify and deport immigrants in the U.S.

illegally.

The filing says

the IRS confirmed just 3.7 percent of the nearly 1.3 million names ICE requested and in a few cases shared additional information possibly violating privacy rules.

The agreement sparked lawsuits from advocacy groups including Public Citizen which says the disclosure is part of the reason it sued in the first place.
