We're a big country.

In our regions, you know, there's often lots of black spots, lots of places you can't access connection.

So this will be a safety net.

It'll be a backup.

And over time, it'll become increasingly important.

But we do need the terrestrial infrastructure in place and we need it to work better as well.

So we need both.

Well, we deserve and we are paying for a system that should deliver connectivity to us.

So I do think there is now a much greater acceptance and anger from the public about these outages because they're so reliant on their devices for everything they do every day and

And really, you know, what they've heard is that the major outages of recent times have been due to human error, lack of system maintenance, cost cutting, and they've seen job losses, but they've also seen increasing profits, record profits.

So increasingly there will be a public push and I think Australians deserve to have a system that serves their interests, not big commercial companies that are making a lot of money and serving their shareholders.

Well, I think that will be looked at if it's found that there are grounds for criminal proceedings.

So there definitely will be fines.

But, you know, fines and, you know, CEOs being held to account are one thing.

But if we don't have the system right, this is not going to...

help improve anything in the future.

We absolutely need to hold telcos to account.

The best way of doing that is to have this service treated as an essential service and legislated and regulated that way.

And then we know we've got all the systems in place, the fines, the
