I had seen Paul in a production of Sweeney Todd with his son, actually, years ago, Helen and I both had.
And we just put his name in the memory bank as a really talented actor and somebody to call upon if a part ever came up that required somebody of of his description.
Oh, it has, yeah.
It premiered in NACE in 2018 for a sold-out run.
Then it went to Carlow.
We went on a bit of a tour with it and The Civic.
Then we were interrupted, unfortunately, for two years by COVID, as was everybody else in this industry and others.
But then we managed to rejuvenate it after that with pretty much the exact same cast, which was fantastic.
There is such passion amongst our cast and our creative team for this production.
And then went to the Olympia, the three Olympia in 2024 for a sold out run.
And we're back due to popular demand and basically just due to the incredible feedback that we've received.
Like so many people from that era, say, who would come to see the show, have told us that they just felt transported back to those days for a couple of hours when they came to see the show.
And, you know, as writers, I suppose that's the highest praise that we could have asked for.
We have loads of kind of references from our research throughout the show, like the Cotillamon perfume the girls used to wear, the Morris Minor car that they go in.
The priest goes around the dance hall scene with his stick, making sure that...
There's a lot of reality.
The young couples aren't too close together.
Can you imagine if a priest went into coppers nowadays, what their reaction would be with the sticks separated?
No, not quite yet.
