The New York State Nurses Association says tentative agreements have been reached with Mount Sinai Health System and Montefiore Medical Center.
According to the union, the agreements include raises of 12 percent over three years, along with staffing improvements and other wins.
But nurses first have to vote on whether to ratify the contracts before they can return to work.
The union says voting will conclude on Wednesday.
Negotiations with a third hospital system, New York Presbyterian, are ongoing.
If and when the deal is finalized, it will be the largest settlement to date over a company's role in the opioid crisis. The money would go to cities and states across the country to fund addiction services. But the thousands of claimants involved also have the option to opt out.
