But I would hope in time, because things aren't getting any cooler, right?
I do hope in time that those are the decisions that are being made because it's not always about the sporting performance.
It's about the commercial decisions.
Yeah, when you support individuals that you watch day in, day out, work towards these goals, it's incredibly frustrating.
I felt at times when we were preparing, particularly for Tokyo, that everything we were doing was to make sure that they could actually compete in that heat and humidity.
Yes, we were training people.
the way we knew we had to, but we knew if we didn't work towards keeping them cool, pre-cooling strategies, altering warm-up strategies, we knew they wouldn't be able to perform.
The human body just can't.
You put it in certain conditions and it just can't.
But I find it incredibly frustrating because I feel we're putting people at risk and our jobs now are to make sure that we are keeping them safe while they try to perform at their very best.
Yeah, so that's an interesting question and there's probably a school of thought around it.
So I'll just give you a bit of a, maybe a practical limit.
Theoretical limit is about 35 degrees on this wet bulb temperature.
If you wanted to just talk about normal temperature and humidity, maybe you'd look at like 30 degrees in 100% humidity, you're not going to survive that.
You're not even going to sit in it and feel too like you're thriving in it.
Practical healthy limits on that wet bulb temperature, we're probably looking at about 30 degrees to 31 degrees.
There's athletes that'll go out and try and pace.
They're probably not as well as informed, even though they are world-class, as they'll try and pace to what they normally run in temperate conditions.
And unfortunately, the body just says no.
