She asked her mom at one point why she didn't leave before Gloria Steinem was born, why she didn't leave her marriage.
And her mother told her that, well, if I had left, you would never have been born.
And Gloria Steinem thought to herself, well, maybe you would have been born, though.
Maybe you would have become a full person.
And I think that really formed how Gloria Steinem approached the rest of her life.
