Quite frankly, in the West, we're not very good at talking about it.
It's certainly something that you
tackled really head on in the wakes and to some degree also in Margaret, Are You Leaving?
But you know, life is full of
huge turning points.
And I suppose in your life
You have had these major experiences that have brought you closer to death than perhaps some of us, not just your mother's death at when you were seventeen, your father's very sudden passing, but something we spoke about when the wakes was launched was your own near death experience when you're forty years old, you had an undiagnosed immune condition.
Addison's disease, which if left untreated, which it often is because the symptoms are so vague, can take you to the point of crisis where it claims your life.
You had that experience when you were forty and that seemed to be what really set you on the path to writing, which is something you'd always wanted to do.
But suddenly when you're faced with your own mortality, it's a very
clarifying experience.
So I I'm wondering, you know.
How are you feeling now?
How's your health today?
And did you get still a sense that your
Got some of that still to process and that was being processed in, Margaret, are you leaving?
I
rest assured you have produced something of beauty and you've put two beautiful works into the world now.
And I feel almost terrible asking this question because
It seems like you've really scaled a mountain to write this book.
