There's a man up there who makes his career, his living by burning charcoal.
But there's also another person up there, and there's flashes of blue seen between the trees by different people.
And it's a young boy.
Well, he's not that young anymore, but he's been living up there since he was young, and he's an orphan, and he's wild.
He's just feral child.
The charcoal burner has occasionally offered him a place under his porch to sleep.
How generous.
Virginian winters.
um and given him a few little bits of food.
But he's been self reliant.
And this is the second major character of the book, as well as Roy, who you mentioned.
He doesn't have a name at all until
He's brought into the fold after the charcoal man dies and some of the other characters come up and kind of coax him down into the down the mountain world.
So eventually he is named and it's kind of arbitrarily chosen.
He's given a coat or he has a coat and on the back of the coat is a name tag which says Ennis Duke.
So he becomes Ennis and moves into
the young family, Roy Young's um big wealthy house with his father and mother.
And along the way he meets Samantha.
Well, in a way she's the one who lures him down.
Coaxes him down.
