But as I'm preparing proposals for people who need to upskills their upskill their team in how to be human, and as I have conversations with my teenage son and his girlfriend, what I realize is that we've stopped we've stopped focusing or role modeling how to do relationship development because
we think that connection online is a relationship.
And it's not.
It's a it's a something.
And if we have and if we invest in that then it becomes a relationship.
But
Relationships are built on
common interests or
common respect and in order to get to those places you need to know about people.
So
As I was explaining to my son and his girlfriend last night, and we were talking about how to make friends as adults.
Ask questions and then listen with curiosity.
Not listening to defend, not listening to be right, not listening to to figure out what you're gonna step into or what you're gonna say next, but listen with curiosity.
And then rather than giving advice, hands up, I I that can be my tendency, particularly when people are expressing challenges or whatnot, ask, do they want advice?
Do you want help or do you just want to be heard?
Do you you know, like one of the agreements that I have with uh one of my friends is sometimes I just want to be witnessed.
I don't need to be acknowledged, I don't need to be problem solved, I don't need to be fixed, I just need to be witnessed.
And ask and answer questions with thought, not on autopilot.
Somebody asked me yesterday, how are you?
And I actually paused and I went,
