But she said that she remembered that the first question she said to the surgeon was, is she dead?
And then she explained the injuries that her daughter had suffered, that her daughter had been without oxygen to her brain for about 40 minutes.
and this had caused severe damage to her brain.
Said her daughter was in ICU for three weeks, but she wasn't put in an induced coma because they wanted to understand the damage to her brain.
She'd had emergency heart surgery, and there were staples around her heart.
Her injuries saw her suffer seizures.
There was major damage caused to her motor skills.
Then there was this moment when prosecuting
Barrister Carl Finnegan SC said to her, you know, well, how is she now?
There was a pause before she answered that question.
She said her daughter is now in a wheelchair, that she's non-verbal, that she's learning how to swallow.
She gets her nutrition through a tube.
They ask her yes or no questions and she blinks to give them the best of her answers.
And she said she also suffers from dystonia, which she described as a condition that causes her muscles to
to do the opposite of what she wanted.
She wants them to do and she has to work doubly hard to do simple tasks.
And she said that her daughter can't go to the toilet by herself or reach for anything by herself and that she often needs medication to fall asleep.
The prosecution told the jury that it's their case that Mr Butcherker intended to kill two girls and a boy and that the injuries suffered by one of the girls to her chest and heart were life-threatening.
The prosecuting barrister, Mr. Vinnegan, said that intent, which is key to this case, was rarely proved by a person announcing it.
But it could be proved by what a person did.
