Oh the heat.
Well, we're told that the heat this fifth heat wave is going to end later this week.
But certainly the main focus at the moment, although there are still wildfires, Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany and in France, is the big one in eastern Belgium, which is is gonna be a difficult one this one, Mike, because it's in a nature reserve which is mostly peatland and dense vegetation, right up against the German border.
Are really difficult for firemen to work there because the heavy vehicles that they need are at risk of sinking into that soft ground, and of course the fire will continue to burn beneath the surface in that peatland.
So already the the fire has gone across what 3,000 hectares.
Help has come from Germany, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands.
Hopefully, some rain will come in the next few days, but certainly it's
It's been a brutal summer and hopefully some of the heat waves are behind us.
Yeah, I mean it j it's not just Germany.
You've had the the far right coming up across Europe and that's really changed the tone of just about every um particularly Western European country and in Germany in particular it's the moment.
Also don't forget Germany has this constantly these coalition governments, so you tend to not get such strong governments as you would expect.
But yeah, this particular legislation
That they're drafting before Parliament at the moment is a strange one.
You know, you've got um them wanting to change the intelligence community to stop being so defensive, more offensive.
Now, we've talked about this, haven't we, Mike, now what since the start of the Ukraine war, about how there are these new threats to all of Western Europe.
But it's only now that the German intelligence agencies might actually be able to
react to some of these acts that are against their country.
