I would also say that if you're going to leave,
if you're a stranger, you'd be more inclined to leave the body behind because no one's going to connect you to it.
If you're someone, and I'm not going to say family, but if you're somehow connected to that house, you may then have more of a reason for taking the body so there'd be no other indices of death or indications of death in that regard.
