America's State Parks says first day hikes are an opportunity for park visitors across the country to start the new year on the right foot in the outdoors.

At Tennessee's Rhone Mountain State Park, this means a hike at one minute past midnight.

That's park ranger Daisy Graham.

During the hike, she tells us trivia about an endangered species you can find a few feet away in the Doe River.

Graham says first-day hikes give you bragging rights and let you learn a little bit about your state park.
