Steve, thanks for having me.
I think there are two big takeaways from yesterday.
The first is that on the law, the Supreme Court said very clearly, the law says what the law says, and we're going to apply the law.
In the first big immigration case, the law says you have to be in the United States, arrived in the United States to apply for asylum.
That means you can't apply for asylum from Mexico.
You can't apply from asylum just because you're waiting in line to get into the United States.
Again, the fact that the Supreme Court even had to address the question is a little bit of a shame because the law is crystal clear on that.
The other one, the very status that the Haitians and the Syrians had, temporary protected status,
If someone has the ability to stay in the United States for a decade, two decades, at what point do we stop calling that temporary?
So again, the Supreme Court had a common sense legal ruling, but I also think there's like an important political ruling here.
And the political ruling is do not abuse the generosity of the United States.
We are the most generous nation in the world when it comes to immigration.
The number of immigrants we welcome into our borders every single year is astonishing, completely, particularly if you compare us to all of the other nations in the world.
Yet nonetheless, we are still sued left and right.
You're still called racist if you oppose any sort of illegal immigration whatsoever.
If you're not willing to open up your front door and allow whoever to come through it with open arms, you're also a racist.
And I think
the Supreme Court sent a loud message.
You're 100% right.
