Red dots protects internals from dust, water, any other debris that you might gather around.
So like if you use it on a carry gun, it's not going to get in there.
Uh, it also makes it easier to clean.
And of course I live in Oregon and it rains a lot here.
So having enclosed red dots is really nice on a range gun.

And of course, that way you don't have to try to stick a rag inside the open emitter site to get water off of it.
You just wipe it off the enclosed glass and it's super easy.
Now, of course.
The PE330 is made of 6061 aluminum.
It seems fine for this style of optic.
It's hard anodized aluminum exterior, makes it pretty durable.
It's also water resistant, of course.
Nothing's waterproof in a sense.
They spec it out as IPX7.
So if you don't know, that is submerged at one meter for 30 minute timeframe, it's
Pretty standard on most red dots.
Of course, it didn't leak on me, but I also didn't go swimming with it.
I also didn't freeze it, which some people do, but I was like, nah, I don't feel like doing that.
When you deal with micro red dots, mounting footprint is super important, of course, as we all know by now.
