Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons are expected to be the most congested times for drivers in major metro areas.

Travel could also be messy for parts of the country ahead of the holiday, according to National Weather Service lead forecaster Bob Oravec.

Travelers could also see rain and snowy weather when returning home.
