You would need a ch a reset of the context.

I don't believe that uh we can suddenly go back to a table uh with uh both sides saying, Okay, let's keep the fundamentals of the deal we had on the table, because so far what we know about the deal that was on offer uh was not much of a deal.

Uh it involved the capacity, talking about signing and pencil, the capacity for the US to at any time decide uh to re implement or to strike Canada with new high tariffs for any reason that they saw fit and as Mark Carney reminded Canadians.

Uh every reason under the sun has been used uh for tariffs over the past year and a half, from uh fentanyl to we're still waiting for those tariffs on smoke uh from wildfires go down the list.

There are uh are also legitimate questions as to whether the Prime Minister at this point, knowing what the basis of the agreement was, uh whether he could bring home a deal that he could uh convince provinces such as Ontario to sign off on and

restore uh alcohol on the shelves of the L C BO.

uh an auto trade.

Forget all this to and fro about French uh uh this and that.

Everyone is uh giving a s slightly slanted version of reality here, but the reality in this case is that Ontario would not have signed off on the deal that was on offer.
