Iranian-backed Houthi militants say they've targeted two oil tankers in the Red Sea.
Their claim appears to be confirmed by the UK's Maritime Trade Operations Centre, which says a tanker reported being struck in the area.
Brent crude jumped above $96 a barrel as traders reacted to the latest threat to shipping in the region.

Shortly after the reports of the Red Sea attacks, the U.S.
announced a 12th consecutive night of strikes against Iran, saying it was targeting the country's ability to attack commercial shipping.
And with the conflict seeming to widen, there is little sign that the U.S.
or Iran are ready to return to the negotiating table.

A French lender, BNP Paribas, has reported profits that beat expectations in the second quarter.
The bank saw net income of €4.35 billion over the period, up by 33% compared to the same period last year.
Equity's revenue rose to €1.4 billion, well ahead of the €1.1 billion forecast by analysts, only a little shy of the gains reported by the largest Wall Street firms.
