When I saw my name on the Hype Machine, I was like, wow, I made it.
And I get to go to class and then refresh and see if my song went up on the Hype Machine.
And sometimes it would.
That made me so happy.
So I kind of wanted to be an artist, but I never really admitted it to myself.
Yes, I was terrified to sing in front of people and I knew to be an artist I had to sing in front of people.
I went through college like terrified to sing in front of people, but I just forced myself to do it.
My parents, my dad, my parents are my number one fans and my ultimate, I joke that my mom's my first A&R.
My dad would always encourage me to sing in front of people.
I didn't do it until... The first time I did it was at this club in New York called Birdland, and I was 16.
And I was so bad, but the audience was so nice.
I ripped the bandaid off.
I was like, okay, so now I can sing on the internet because I sang in front of people.
You sang covers?
I sang covers on the internet.
So if I do that, that's less terrifying than being in front of a crowd.
And then I can graduate by them playing in front of multiple crowds one day.
But it was a step-by-step process for me.
No.
I just hope it sounds good.
