Yeah, I wanted to make sure he was out of the water, check the other people I was paddling with out of the water.

And then that was when I took a second, took a breath and just went, okay, how do I actually feel right now?

I was aware that this was a pretty traumatic incident.

I wanted to see if I was experiencing trauma.

And it didn't take long because I've spent a lot of time pretty self-analytical and reflective.

And I was pretty happy with my state of mind.

Obviously, I was pumped up on adrenaline, but I was still thinking rationally.

I wasn't, again, for lack of another word, traumatized by the situation.

It was something really full on that happened.

And that was it.

I have no control over anything beyond that.

Yeah.

So picked her up out of the water, carried her up the beach.

There was already heaps of people ready to go on the beach.

And I've got a lot of gratitude to all the people.

There was the council lifeguards.

It was a really busy day at Coogee.

So there was police on standby.

There was trained medical staff that just happened to be down there as well as volunteer lifeguards as well.
