We have only hired in a contractor to come and replace our electrical panel.
Everything else we have done on our own and we've passed all of our inspections so far.
So that's been pretty exciting.
Our house was built in 1981 and we are pretty convinced that none of the previous owners did much to it since the 80s.
Last year, we took a major leap of faith and bought a fixer upper with absolutely no previous DIY experience.
And we're on a mission to DIY the majority of this home renovation, even though we have never remodeled a house before.
I like to call it like big kid arts and crafts.
You know, if you have an attention to detail, I think it's totally doable to be able to work on your house yourself.
Two weeks after buying the house, we found a bunch of black mold in the basement.
So that was something that was definitely a fixer-upper that we weren't expecting, but, you know, we had to deal with.
I had this out-of-body experience of, oh my gosh, what have we done?
How are we going to fix this?
Yeah, that was my reaction.
